MOSI Artist of the Month Greg Walter is inspired by landscapes and old houses in conceiving his pen and ink drawings. Here he displays “Inside Looking Out,” for which he was chosen as Artist of the Month by the Missouri-Southern Iowa Art Guild (MOSI).
Working from his own photograph taken from inside a barn, he captured the light streaming through worn wood and added some diagonal lines and shading for a creative composition. Walter has been surrounded by several family artists since childhood. His grandmother, for example, had many of her own oil paintings displayed in her home.
He has sold some of his work, and also paints abstract designs with acrylics during the winter. Walter’s framed piece is currently displayed in the window of the Kirksville Arts Association, 117 S. Franklin St., Kirksville, MO.
MOSI is an organization of local, active artists from northeast Missouri and southern Iowa. Monthly meetings take place on the second Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. at the Kirksville Arts Association. For more information, contact Colleen Wagner at [email protected].
