The first MOSI meeting of the year was packed with information about this year’s events.

Several artists offered pieces for the Celebrated Artist contest to be voted on by the attending members. If you like art, or if you make art, you should have been there.

Here are a some pictures of our January 2015 meeting.

Colleen Wagner presented a few Certificate’s of Appreciation to those who got a grip on MOSI and helped out in strong capacities. It takes a lot of volunteers and lots of time to run a successful Art Guild.

Colleen had a Show and Tell about the new approach she is trying out with found objects. This piece has feathers in it.

She also discussed some ways to establish price for our pieces of art.

A project that MOSI is doing as a fundraiser is to auction off these locally handmade wooden chairs, which then were given to our artists to paint.  The Kirksville Arts Association gallery will be open as much as possible thru February 12 for you to come see and place your bid, minimum bid $65.  Own one of these great locally produced artistic chairs.

If you like rainbows or horses, this might be your choice. Maybe an apple for a teacher. One is dynamic with a dragon on it.

Chosen as the celebrated artist was Gigi Wahba, for her stained glass piece titled “Scottish Thistle.” You can see this beautiful piece of glass in the window at Kirksville Arts Association, when you come to bid on a chair.

The next MOSI activity is the second Thursday, February 12, 5–6:30 p.m., at Kirksville Arts Association gallery. It will be the reception for the chair fundraiser when the bids will be finalized. Come join us. Take home a chair.
